Bellevigne
A former Burgundy manor reinterpreted as a timeless country retreat — Bellevigne balances heritage beams and moldings with lighter, contemporary tones.
Vision
The project was conceived as a reinterpretation of the country house — preserving its soul while introducing a lighter, more current and more fluid atmosphere. The ambition was to create a place that feels timeless rather than nostalgic, where tradition and modernity coexist naturally.
Context
Located in an old maison de maître in the heart of Burgundy, the project is rooted in a strong architectural and cultural landscape. The existing building offered exposed beams, old parquet floors, fireplaces, moldings and a deep sense of memory. The challenge was to reactivate these qualities without locking the space into a frozen image of rural heritage.
Design approach
The design relies on natural materials, soft tones and subtle contrasts to bring freshness and clarity to the existing structure. Wood remains central, but is balanced through pastel shades, lighter textiles, graphic carpets and carefully placed color accents. Traditional references — canopies, mirrors, carved objects, old details — are preserved, but integrated into simpler lines and calmer volumes, allowing the project to feel both rooted and alive.
